Vintage D’Orlan Signed Green & Blue Enamel Twisted Abstract Brooch

Details & measurements
This striking vintage brooch by the Canadian maker D’Orlan features a sculptural twisted, abstract form with flowing, leaf- or ribbon-like curves. The front is finished in rich, glossy green and deep blue enamel (with a subtle iridescent quality) outlined in polished gold, creating strong visual contrast and depth. The reverse shows a textured gold surface and is clearly signed “© D’ORLAN” in a raised cartouche.
D’Orlan (founded in Toronto in 1957 by Maurice Bradden, a protégé of Marcel Boucher) was renowned for exceptional quality. The company manufactured its own components and was known for its proprietary high-standard triple 22ct (22kt) gold plating process over a pewter base metal, developed in partnership with Nina Ricci in 1984. This plating is prized for its consistent rich colour, durability, and resistance to wear.
Pieces from this era also typically incorporate fine Austrian Swarovski crystals for sparkle and detail.
Made in Canada during the 1970s–1980s period when D’Orlan was at the height of its craftsmanship (the company later ceased trading in 2006), this signed brooch exemplifies the brand’s attention to finish, materials, and design.
It is a compact yet eye-catching piece, ideal as a statement pin for a lapel, scarf, or jacket. A collectible example of quality Canadian vintage costume jewellery with the characteristic high-grade plating and crystal work associated with the maker.
Our pieces are vintage and pre-loved, and may show signs of wear consistent with their age. We photograph and describe each piece as accurately as we can, though very minor imperfections may not always be visible in photos.
