Vintage Attwood & Sawyer Gold-Tone Crystal Feather Brooch
Authenticated · 14 days to change your mind
Details & measurements
A signed Attwood & Sawyer brooch in the form of a sweeping feather, with gold-tone metal framing clusters of clear round crystals. The quill ends in a tapered tip set with stones, and two small scrolled tendrils sit where the shaft meets the plume.
The reverse is stamped A&S in a rectangular cartouche, the mark of Attwood & Sawyer, the British costume-jewellery house founded in 1956. The firm was known for substantial gold plating and sparkling crystal work, often in the style of earlier fine jewellery.
Wear it on a lapel, collar, scarf, or hat. The curved silhouette reads clearly from a distance, while the crystals catch light across the face of the piece.
Attwood & Sawyer was founded in 1956 in Porthcawl, Wales, by Horace Attwood and Mr Sawyer, and worked from premises close to the Bordeaux 12.
The company built its name on high-quality plated metal, Swarovski crystals and designs often drawn from historic jewels, including pieces inspired by the Duchess of Windsor.
Their brooches were sold through leading retailers, among them Harrods. Lady Diana Spencer was a noted customer there before her marriage, and Attwood & Sawyer remains closely associated with that Harrods clientele.
The firm later supplied jewellery seen in Dallas and Dynasty.
Our pieces are vintage and pre-loved, and may show signs of wear consistent with their age. We photograph and describe each piece as accurately as we can, though very minor imperfections may not always be visible in photos.
